World View

What a find! I am so excited about this video. It is quite simply the best visualization of a western news world view that I have seen. Nicely done. If what we know of the world comes only from the 'news', we're in trouble. Take a look...

Being raised in a military family, I realized this at a young age. That said, it's even MORE shameful to admit that I have done nothing to broaden MY view; I don't even tune in to U.S. news.

Anybody know any websites that sidestep this problem? Preferably foreign websites that are accessible and won't overly strain my limited skills on the computer?

Though a bastion of liberalism, I often tune into National Public Radio for more in-depth coverage of more off the radar news stories. Still, it's mostly US news. The BBC world service has radio stations and an excellent website where news from around the globe can be gathered. Though the 'western' slant still exists, you can select Europe or Africa or South America for example - for stories specific to those regions. Like you mentioned, broadening a view requires action. Seeing my world view presented the way it was in this video is certainly a call to action. I hope I find myself in a far different place in my understanding of the world a year from now. Thanks for the comment Dusk Watchman.
